She seemed miffed I hadn't told her and narrowed her gaze at Blaire behind me. "Isn't that her job?" she asked. "She's your assistant isn't she?"

I slid my tongue across my teeth. "Whoever I tell to do it, that's their job. Back off, I'll let everyone know what's going on tomorrow morning. Get back to work."

I tugged Blaire toward the elevator and loosened my tie as I slammed my finger against the entry floor button. Blaire seemed on edge, too, her fingers wringing together nervously, which wasn't her style. I knew she played off my emotions, but I couldn’t stop the anger inside of me.
